Compassion Practice with Cynthia Scrimshaw

Cynthia's commitment to compassion practice and the call to share it with others originates from the enriching and heart-centered experiences she has received from her personal spiritual practice, her life’s work and service in holistic nursing practice and education, and as a holistic nurse practitioner and psychotherapist working with others using compassion-focused and mind/body therapies, mindfulness, and self-healing modalities for relieving emotional stress and anxiety, especially as related to significant trauma and abuse. 

She is inspired by the lives and teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, the Dali Lama, many other spiritual teachers and poets, and through the practice of Bhakti Yoga.

What is Compassion Practice?

Compassion Practice offers opportunities for gentle self-healing and opening of the heart through guided meditations and sacred sound immersions with singing bowls and mantras/chants. There will be some reflection and discussion, but the primary focus is deepening compassion practice through sensory and kinesthetic experiences—a way of learning about compassion beyond what the mind can conceive.

In these gatherings we will support each other with open hearts and intention—for connecting with heart wisdom, inviting grace into our daily living, cultivating mindfulness, compassion and acceptance. It is anticipated there will be thought-provoking, heart-felt and playful moments. All accompanied by a cup of tea

A portion of time during compassion practice will be spent lying down during guided meditation. Wear comfortable clothes and warm socks. We have yoga mats, yoga blankets and cushions that are available for your comfort. (You are welcome to bring your own mat/props if you would like).
