Kirtan Workshop & Community Kirtan ~ 1/27/19

Join us for our first Sandwich Mountain Community Kirtan Event!

We are excited to announce that Scott Whitmore will be here 
to offer a Kirtan Workshop and then will lead Kirtan at BodhiHeart Yurt.

All are Welcome!

This is a free and open event. 
All  donations will be given to the Call and Response Foundation and will support their mission and outreach programs in the community, prisons, and recovery communities

Suggested donation is $20 at the door.

You are invited to participate in the full afternoon (workshop & kirtan),
 or choose to join us for Kirtan. 


Would you like to learn how to lead Kirtan or begin a personal chanting practice?

Here is a special opportunity for you! 

No experience needed. If you have an instrument (harmonium, drum, guitar), please feel free to bring them. Cynthia will have her harmonium and we will also have a couple of Djembes, a Cajon drum, and a variety of Khartals, Finger Cymbals, Tingshas, & Shakers... Chairs and floor seating provided.


When: Sunday, January 27, 2019  ~  Kirtan Workshop: 1:30-3:30pm
                                                                            Kirtan: 4:00-6:00pm

What to bring: a water bottle, warm socks or slippers, and your open heart

What to expect in Kirtan workshop:
-Take the practice of chanting into your home
-Learn how to play 3 chants 
-Learn tips to leading Kirtan
-Explore leading on an instrument (harmonium, drums, guitar)
-Find your voice
-Talk about the chanting practice

About Scott:
Scott Whitmore is an experienced kirtan leader intrigued with the interconnectedness of the heart, mind, and spirit. While in college, Scott began studying Eastern Religions and the teachings of Ram Dass. A few years later, Scott was invited to move to Maui to serve as a personal assistant to Ram Dass, where Scott first began leading kirtan. After serving Ram Dass, Scott worked for four years as a Applied Behavioral Counselor/Teacher for children with severe special and behavioral needs. Now, Scott now serves as the Director of Outreach and Development for the Call and Response Foundation. Over the years Scott has had the honor to accompany Krishna Das, Nina Rao, and Devadas.
