Metta Practice | Awakening to the Heart

Metta Practice

The awakened heart of loving-kindness
and freedom is our birthright as human beings.

What is Metta Practice?

Metta Practice with Cynthia offers opportunities for
opening the heart and gentle self-healing, while developing compassion for oneself and others.

In these gatherings we support each other with open hearts and intention—for connecting with heart wisdom, inviting grace into our daily living, cultivating mindfulness, compassion and acceptance.

  • Primary Focus is Self-Healing & Expanding Heart Wisdom
  • Sacred Sound Immersions / Chanting Mantras
with crystal singing bowls, temple bells, and handpan harmonics
  • Exploring Individual Deities & Spiritual Teachers
understanding meaning of their teachings / symbolism, wisdom & mantras
  • Spiritual Storytelling using legends, myths, & short stories to shine light on the flowing pathway of the creative mind, the heart, and inner knowing
  • Guided Meditation to open the heart & connect with its wisdom
  • Mindful Movement
to deepen our kinesthetic sense & ground experience in the present moment
  • Aromatherapy to promote inner peace, rejuvenation & a joyful spirit
  • Safe & Nurturing Environment that enhances deep comfort

There will be some reflection and discussion, but a primary focus is deepening through sensory and kinesthetic experiences—a way of learning about Metta Practice beyond what the mind can conceive.

Cynthia is inspired and guided by the loving teachings of
Neem Karoli Baba, Thich Nhat Hanh, the Dali Lama,
and through the practice of Bhakti Yoga.

Cynthia's commitment to Metta practice and the call to share it with others originates from the enriching and heart-centered experiences she has received through her personal spiritual practice; her life’s work and service to othersas a holistic nurse/educator, psychotherapist and holistic mental health nurse practitioner; and by empowering others using compassion-focused, mind/body therapies, mindfulness, and self-healing practices for relieving stress, anxiety, emotional trauma and abuse. Her personal experience of learning to live in the world as a highly sensitive person has also greatly influenced her metta practice.

Metta is the active practice of compassion and universal loving kindness.
In ancient Buddhist and Hindu texts, the practice of Metta is recommended for cultivating interpersonal harmony, meditation concentration
and a way to facilitate awakening.
